Freesat dealing with HD box shortages

Freesat's instant success has caused supply problems

Freesat's instant success has caused supply problems
published on UK Free TV

As I said on BBC Radio when Freesat launched, there are millions of HD-ready televisions out there, but people just don't want to fork out 150 for a Sky HD box and up to 684 a year to subscribe to Sky's HD services.

As quite a few people have noted, there were a few problems getting Freesat HD equipment from the shops.

My experience was that it took Comet two and a half hours to find the Humax Foxsat in their Brent store.

Freesat told ukfree.tv today "Since its launch, Freesat has proved incredibly popular with consumers. There was a shortage of HD boxes shortly after launch and we have been working with all our manufacturers and retail partners to try to meet this ongoing high level of demand. "
