Will an aerial booster improve my freeview reception?

Will an aerial booster improve my freeview reception?

No, an amplifier won't normally help with a Freeview signal. Can I suggest the following:

1. If you can raise the aerial up by an extra metre or so;

2. Check the direction of the aerial and that the it is either "vertical" or "horizontal" as required.

3. Check that all the connectors and cables are in good condition, look especially for stray wires from the outer shielding on the cable being loose;

shell: CBeebies is on the same multiplex as BBC1/2 etc, so if you can view these programmes then there is no reason for not being able to view CBeebies, unless the data gathered during a previous re-scan is corrupted.

You have to carry out a "first time" re-tune, this can also be called dependant on box, a "factory reset" or "default setting", and is the only way to purge the box (or TV) of corrupted data.

Thanks Brian.
I have no of the "inputs" described, but have the DVD player in the side sockets of the TV. It seems to be "single interference", but when typing the the postcode, it seems its should be perfect here, not sure where to go from here?
Shelly.

shell: On looking over your postings it would appear that its the two high powered multiplexes you are having problems with, this immediately giving rise to the suspicion that its an over powerful signal that is possibly causing your problem and not the reverse, as you are located at only 11 miles away from Sandy.

Just purely for a test, if you have access to a set top aerial try carrying out a rescan using that, if this enables you to get BBC1 etc but its of a poor quality it doesn't really matter, as the test is just to find out if it comes in at all, as if it does then you require an attenuator in line with your TV's aerial socket.
