Yesterday the TV screen said a retune was required. I have now lost all HD channels from Mendip transmitter on C33 and a manual tune says there is 0% signal on C33. Before the retune I had all C33 hD channels at 100% signal strength. Does anybody know what's going on?

Mike Tucker: If you are manually scanning C33 ensure that DVB-T2 mode is selected rather than DVB-T, if such an option exists.

To Dave Lindsay
Thanks for your response but I'm not being given that option. The crazy thing is that I had all those HD channels yesterday and Mendip is reporting no transmitter problems. So why would a retune make them vanish?

Mike Tucker: You should try carrying out a "manufacturers reset" on your TV prior to retuning same, as what you have reported would suggest that some glitch has occurred during the recent retune, resetting same being the only way of clearing everything stored (including glitches) in the tuners memory.

By the way, manufacturers reset is also known on various devices as "default setting" or "first time installation".

Just tried a manufacturers reset. Unfortunately - no change. C33 still 0%.

Mike Tucker: Are you sure that COM7 was previously being received from Mendip and not another transmitter? (Not knowing your location it is impossible to get an idea as to whether this might be a possibility.).

Mike Tucker: Does the TV have an in-built "booster" which can be turned on for reception of this channel?

Mike Tucker: As the manufacturers reset has not made any difference to the situation, something which is rather unusual as this type of action virtually comes into the category of being one of the last resort, that is as far as clearing problems caused by glitches that occur within the actual set is concerned, therefore it would possibly be of assistance to have knowledge of the model number of TV in question.

Dave Lindsay. I'm on the fringe of the Mendip transmitter in the Forest of Dean. The aerial points at Mendip - the only other possibility being Wenvoe, but that's in a different direction and I definately pick up only Mendip (no Welsh). The TV doesn't have a built in booster but there is a masthead amplifier feeding 2 TVs. If I switch that off all signal strengths diminish especially HD. But with it on all signal strengths are 100%, as was C33 until 2 days ago.

Maybe Mendip has reduced power for C33, although they don't admit it.
Maybe I have an aerial problem - strangely coinciding with the retune???
Maybe I'll say "sod it" and live with what I've got.
