Russ:

I would stick with what you've got, as you have currently no realistic prospect of getting terrestrial digital TV due to terrain issues.

Hope this helps,
Adam.

Russ: Ditto Adam B's diagnosis. You will probably only be able receive from the Newhaven relay which will be a Public Service Broadcaster transmitter only. Thus it will carry BBC, ITV1, ITV2, C4, E4, More4, C5, HD and a few others.

Being low down as you are, you won't be able to receive from another transmitter that carries the commercial channels.

In case this helps anyone else I've just installed an 18 element on a bungalow chimney in Hastings Avenue, Seaford and got a full set of Freeview channels from Whitehawk Hill. Quite a bit of signal too albeit with a Labgear masthead but watching for 30 minutes after installation there was no pixellation seen on any channels. I'll probably rescan after Newhaven switches over to prevent any problems when the tropo gets going in the summer but it does mean a complete line up is available at least in parts of Seaford.

Will we ever receive 3D TV from Newhaven transmitter?

Max: Yes, the BBC have carried a number of "test" 3D events on the BBC HD channel, such as Wimbledon and the Strictly Come Dancing final last year.

There's nothing special about 3D transmissions really, just two images, one for each eye, squeezed into a normal TV picture frame.

Mr. B Thomson: There are some older models that will no longer work after switchover. BBC channels have switched and the others haven't.

Some sources of affected equipment are:

TVs and boxes that do not support the 8k-mode | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice

http://www.digitaluk.co.u…ment

http://www.digitaluk.co.u…tnit

These lists are not exhaustive.

If your TV isn't on these lists, then post its make and model and those on this site may be able to advise you as to whether it will or won't work after switchover.

I live in Seaford. I am using 2 TVs, one with built in digibox and one with a a separate digi box. I am getting very bad reception on BBC 1 and 2. Picture keeps breaking up. Not a problem on higher channels. Thought it might be the bad weather but still a problem now that weather has cleared up. I have tried re-tuning both sets/boxes but no better. What is the problem?
