Peter Henderson: Saorview is MPEG4 on DVB-T, and can be watched by some equipment, most notably BT Vision boxes.
Freeview HD will display Saorview.
Freeview HD boxes are expected to be able to deal with the cross-border EPG issues, as there is a section in the specification dealing with this.
Anyway, more at Northern Ireland "mini multiplex" (NIMM) | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice .

Hi, Im an installer in Antrim and recently Ch23 Mux seems to be having major problems with BER. The signal and level looks fine on the spectrum anaylizer however the quality of the signal is bad. Can this be looked at as I have customers and queries regarding this issue. I have noticed this myself over the last few week the areas are BT41, BT42.
Cheers

I've had similar issues Carl. Thought it was just myself affected.
All I can say is roll on October 24th when all of this should be a thing of the past.
Incidentally, my strongest channel on Freeview is 34 which, strangely, is one of the lower power multiplexes

To add to my last post this problem also extends to Lisburn as well so there is a problem either with the frequency or the Mux! if channel 23 is to be used on DSO I would look again

It should be fine after DSO, hopefully Carl, as the power increases to 50kw.
My issues are also to do with the quality of the signal. I'm in BT 37 (Jordanstown) and up until recently channel 23 was OK, although a bit weaker than the rest.
